Cuban-American soprano Lisette Oropesa has been described by Spain’s Notodo online magazine as "one of those exceptional things … like Halley’s Comet”. One of today´s most sought-after lyric coloraturas, she has triumphed in various roles in some of the foremost opera houses in Europe and the US. Winner of the 2019 Beverly Sills Award and the Richard Tucker Award, Lisette Oropesa appears in two of opera’s most demanding roles in the current Metropolitan Opera season – in the title part of Massenet’s Manon (transmitted to cinemas around the world in the Live in HD series on Oct. 26, 2019), and as Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata. In June 2019, she debuted at Milan´s Teatro alla Scala as Amalia in Verdi’s I masnadieri. The 2019/20 season sees her also singing Rosina (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Opéra national de Paris, Violetta at the Teatro Real in Madrid, and Lucia (Donizetti: Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
